>>4. I suspect all "non-magic" "cool stuff" is going to be fueled by a particular magic skill (glyphs, devotion, bard mojo and so forth).

<<No. That's never been the intent, nor have we ever said that. I can't speak for glyphs (I just don't have any personal knowledge there) but the cleric guild only skill, Theology, is going to be the driving force behind what you'd call "Devotion" (Communes and rituals and whatnot). Likewise for Bards their mojo abilities will mostly be driven by Bardic Lore. Prediction (The main MM "cool stuff" system) is driven by Astrology, familiars and AP will be driven by Summoning, Thanatology drives the necromancer "cool stuff". None of these are magic skills (With the exception of the three magic primes since guild primary skills fall in your primary skill set).

Thanks for the response. Questions/comments:

1. So the mojo skill (for the ones you can speak to) will be a primary skill for the particular guild and I assume is learned by "doing" the particular thing (commune, mojo and so forth).

2. Speaking for clerics (because they are the closest to paladins) the skill drives the success of the "special thing"? If so, that is a bit concerning in that in the past one's devotion level determined success or failure and the ability to re-fill the "pool" of mojo (speaking generically).

3. I assume if a skill drives the mojo, then there is a contest that is something different than SvX? The concern of course here is if it moves to skill v. skill then we have changed the entire dynamic of these things.

Thanks for the discussion. Although not directly related to glyphs, it gives me an idea of what it will look like going forward.

Yap. Bardic Lore is a guild only skill, and guild only skills are learned at a primary rate.

I can't speak to that. You'd have to ask Grejuva.

In the case of Bards (Since I can't directly speak to the others) it will follow the general contested stat formulas put forth for magic and barbarian roars etc:
