Glyph of light 01/10/2004 07:21 PM CST
Ok, I'm embarrassed to ask this since my paladin is just about 60th circle...but I've never used glyph of light. How do I trace it on myself? I just tried and got this message:

<<You trace the Glyph of Light around you. An empty feeling pervades your soul, but nothing else happens>>

my soul is:

>You rub the soulstone...

>It warms slightly and turns a steady white hue!

>exhale soul
>You breathe softly on the soulstone...

>It pulses steadily with an inner light!

So what gives? Thanks

As Kougen said..

>You rub the soulstone...

>It warms slightly and turns a steady white hue!

This is your problem. Steady white isn't high enough to be able to use the Glyph of Mana (GOM)

Must be pristine. And sometimes.. a higher level of pristine. So if you've hit pristine and can't trace it.. do a few more "good deeds" then try.

glyph of mana? or glyph of light?
glyph of mana can be used with a soul that's slightly below perfect, but gol requires the soul to be pristine

Meant Light, not mana as I posted.

Bah, I hate that. For me, steady white is an awesome soul state. It's usually chalky, heh.

it isnt that hard to get and stay pristine
if you dont have a badge, make sure to tend once or twice a day and you can keep it pristine

Glyph of light and other glyph questions 01/16/2004 01:39 PM CST
Ok, been playing around with gol a little bit. Duration for me seems to be about 20 minutes but I keep getting distracted while trying to time it. Anyone know if there is a set duration or a formula to figure it out? Also, anyone know how many ranks of perception GOL increases?

Does charisma increase your "soul pool"? Has that ever been confirmed by a GM?

I had to have a pristine soul to use GOL, but when I did use it...my soul was still pristine. Is that normal?

I'm not big on quests, and it's been a really long time since I got my glyph of mana quest. Can anyone email me the instructions on how to complete that quest? Just send to my play.net address. I'd be most appreciative of help. Thanks.

Last thing. I sure hope holy weapon is going to get some work. I love the concept, but the stipulations against it are really unbelievable and for me make it so that I'll never ever get to use it in it's current form.

Saxguy,

>>Duration for me seems to be about 20 minutes but I keep getting distracted while trying to time it. Anyone know if there is a set duration or a formula to figure it out?

So far as I've seen.. the duration seems set. Over the years.. I haven't seen a significant duration increase.

>>Also, anyone know how many ranks of perception GOL increases?

It used to be huge.. way more than a CV rune. But that was too good to last.. so it got... "adjusted".. downwards unfortunately. Since then, I haven't used it to boost perception so I'm not sure of any equivalent number of ranks increase since the .. "change".

>>Does charisma increase your "soul pool"? Has that ever been confirmed by a GM?

From what I remember of hints from Roderigo.. charisma does affect(increase?) the size of your soulpool.

>>I had to have a pristine soul to use GOL, but when I did use it...my soul was still pristine. Is that normal?

Actually, yes. Since the boost to perception was adjusted downwards.. the cost in soul was reduced also. I think I've traced it twice and remained pristine. but then..I keep my soul at the high end of pristine usually.

>>I'm not big on quests, and it's been a really long time since I got my glyph of mana quest. Can anyone email me the instructions on how to complete that quest? Just send to my play.net address. I'd be most appreciative of help. Thanks.

Ok.. without giving away the answers.. if you've already got the mana quest.. I believe you were told to seek a low altar.. and other hints directed you to the Theren area. That's as much as I'll say here.. seek me in game if you have further questions.

>>Last thing. I sure hope holy weapon is going to get some work. I love the concept, but the stipulations against it are really unbelievable and for me make it so that I'll never ever get to use it in it's current form.

Maece has said she's working on some "additions" to the Holy Weapon. What they will be.. we can only wait and see.

GOL does get longer mine last right around 25 minutes give or take a minute, An elder paladins was 28 minutes. Seems circle based like Warding.

Charisma either increases the size of the pool or reduceses the amount each glyph uses up.

As for you quest just to add to redarch you have to pay proper respect when you arrive.

as with all of our glyphs that hit the soul pool, what it takes might not be shown.

what i mean is, "pristine" is a very crude description of the high end of your soul state. If "pristine" was a loaf of bread, you might get the messaging of pristine with only one slice left in the bag, you trace light and now it's out of pristine. But if you have 24 slices (no, i didnt count my loaf of wonder bread), tracing light might take 10 of those slices. So when you check your soulstate you're still pristine.. but now your only 14 slices of pristine.

Dont ask me why I went for a bread analogy, maybe i'm hungry.

I figured that was probably the situation. Thanks for the info.

Does charisma increase your soul pool then?

I was studying for an exam and this idea came to me. Trace glyph of light on a metal shield and the balls of light glow on the shield and it reflects a holy light blinding the critters hindering their ability to attack and defend. Also damaging undead critters.

Glyphs need to be fleshed out entirely.

Things like Edericks idea make sense.

Glyphs should have a self-traceable effect, an effect if traced on others, and an effect if traced on nothing at all. Ederick's idea is an example of this.

Glyph of light used on shields 02/21/2008 12:33 AM CST
Trace glyph of light on your shield and you can not be targeted by spells or aimed at by ranged attacks. If this is too powerful to have in two glyphs lets create a new glyph at a high soul pool cost to accomplish this.

I believe we already have something similar to this but we have to trace the ward over and over each time. It would be nice for a one time cost (semi high) and have it active for a certain amount of time.

Trace ward, Does this already.. Trace ward on an opposing attacker when they aim or target you.
