While I was mucking around the spell preps the other day I realized that the Celestian prep is unique among sect preps for being Silent as opposed to Alternate. This is because I did not change the original message and it had no reasonable aural component.
I'm open to changing this, but only will do so if there's a noticeable interest in doing so. Would you prefer it to be edited slightly to be Alternate, or keep it as a Silent prep?

It would be nice to free up the spell slot, since I got the Silent Prep feat solely because I wanted this particular prep. But personally I care more about the messaging than the mechanical function, so I guess it might depend on what changes. I like having a spell prep that doesn't involve chanting.

I've had the CC prep as long as it's been available to me if memory serves but I'd drop both feats and the prep if it went just alternate. I use the CC prep because I don't like how flashy the default MM prep is. My decision on the CC prep comes down to ~ 50% because it's messaging is more subtle (than default), 20% CC pride and 30% for the prep hiding advantage of a silent prep.
If the MM default prep was less rain dancey I'd dump both prep feats.
If I needed the slots for upcoming spells the spell prep and both feats will get dropped almost immediately. Both spell recognition feats would go first because I see very little effect from them.
I know it's not the question you asked but I'd like to see the silent prep feat gone and make silent preps a stealth/pm/sorcery skillcheck feat with a requirement for the alternate prep feat for any alternate preps. Tougher skillchecks for 'noisier' preps.

Could you confirm that the Monk is silent also? My Monk can't cast using his prep as it says the silent prep is required. I'd rather not change that prep at all and I really like it.
Here is what I get using it in game:
>prep /default
You are now set to use the non-default messaging: "You raise one hand before you and concentrate on forming the Summon Death Monkey spell pattern."
>prep shadows
You don't know enough about the technique behind spell mnemonics to use a silent preparation.
[Type PREPARE /DEFAULT to switch back to your default preparation, or PREPARE /HELP for more options.]

Yeah, Monk is too I'm pretty sure.
Personally I'm in favor of putting all the sects on equal footing in terms of the mechanical benefits and requirements of their preps. I've heard at least one moonie noobler (moobler?) lament not being able to use their chosen sect's prep because they had to go get an extra feat for it.

<<You are now set to use the non-default messaging: "You raise one hand before you and concentrate on forming the Summon Death Monkey spell pattern."
That is definitely a description that fits a silent preparation: no whispering, chanting, etc.
Having very recently done a lot of work on the spell preparation page of elanthipeida, I can say it's also definitely listed there as a silent preparation along with the Celestian one. All of the other sect preps are listed as standard alternate ones. Here's the link the page, but elanthipedia is completely borked at the moment so it's not going to work until it's fixed. https://elanthipedia.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Spell_preparation
I'm torn about whether to make sect preps all simply alternate or keep them as they are. On one hand, adjusting the currently silent ones to add a chant or something so that all sect preps are alternate puts all sects on equal footing with respect to mechanics and slot costs. On the other hand, the two sects that currently have silent preparations have a mechanical advantage unique to their sect with those preps that is available for the cost of a single slot. If I had to decide (I don't, I'm a Pethian) I would choose to keep it as it is. Silent preparations are not that common, and having one unique to your sect is kind a of cool perk even if it costs a bit extra to use.
Also, there's a third option, although I can see it being shot down quickly... having both of the above options. Give every sect two preparations. One alternate and one silent, possibly at very different circles/skills. Each sect is on equal footing, and each sect has the option of using an extra slot to use a silent prep.

Now that the wiki is back up, and taking a look at the prep lists, it would appear that Heritage House's prep is also silent going by the messaging? It was listed under alternate preparations, but I've moved it to silent for the time being since it seems out of place there.

Clearly I misread. If there are 3 sects with silent preps I'll just call the current situation fine.
