Magic 3.2 Moongate Difficulty 08/01/2016 07:41 PM CDT
Someone updated the Elanthipedia's Moongate entry (https://elanthipedia.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Moongate) to note that it now requires 250 Utility to cast, in lieu of the 150 that it previously required. I was on the verge of being able to cast it... then it jumped another 100 ranks down the road. It was already a daunting prospect, since it requires so much to push gates out further and further anyway... I'm curious about how the changes effected mana requirements, etc, down the road.

Has making the spell require an additional 100 ranks to cast also increased the difficulty of gating longer distances, or once I become capable, will I be as effective then as I would have been at 250 ranks under the pre-3.2 system?

All told: How exactly has 3.2 effected Moongate?

Min difficulty went up, max went down, mana required went down.

As for the 'potency' of the Moongate effect itself that didn't change. I.e. Min prep still prodcues the same effect as min prep did before, and likewise with max prep. The potency still scales linearly between those two points like before as well. What changed was the difficulty of achieving a given potency, as well the attunement cost for it.
