Two small tweaks to make things a bit nicer while I work on some of the bigger clunkier projects.

1. Empaths can now learn to manipulate creatures at 50 ranks, rather than 100 ranks.

2. Empaths can now teach each other Empaths empathy without the requirement for a deep link. However, to teach or to listen to an Empathy class, you have to have at least 2/3rds of your Empathy intact.

She means no more than 1/3 Shocked.

Empathic shock has undergone a very interesting change recently. Now there are degrees of shock, rather than on or off.

Noticing that you now "project empathy" or whatever you want to call it when go to teach a student, which is cool. Slight grammar issue with it though. Student was male, haven't tested with a female.

You close your eyes, drawing all your thoughts inward, and then slowly reach out to STUDENT's life essence, attempting to instruct his in the arts of Empathy.

Does Manipulate have the wide teaching range at the new lower skills? I was lucky enough to learn it yesterday at 48 ranks (linked with my teacher to get 50+), and could not get Empathy moving in goblins/large musk hogs. I then went to cougars and was able to learn a trickle of exp. Started at 18/34 and after 45 minutes left with 19/34. Not great but it was constant. Today when I tried again at 50 Empathy I couldn't get off clear on cougars and moved up to rock trolls. Learning well there. If these numbers are in line with what you want then good, but if the teaching range of Empathy is to low, I thought I would point it out.

136 ranks of Empathy. Just showed up in sand sprites and can't move it at all. I'm hoping I can move it when I get to silver leucros.

Yeah, all these numbers are in line with what I'd expect.

If you can easily mind lock tactics at similar skill levels in those creatures, there might be a case for tweaking the low range Empathy learning up a bit, but every example so far the Empath's empathy skill is double or more than double the creature's defensive ability.

However long ago, I tried to balance it so that you could mind lock it in about 20 minutes at level. At level for 50 ranks is sand sprites, 100 ranks is vipers, 210 ranks baby forest gryphons.

If you can manage to hunt above your empathy, you can mind lock even faster, but I know that's not a situation many Empaths end up in.

Not sure how generous the caps are for manipulate, but sprites cap out around 80-90 now. Silver leucros might be capped out for you, as well.

Razortusk boars and sows (just outside leucros) would work, as would swains, once your defenses are up to snuff.
