I have 435 Empathy, and can Manipulate two first tier gryphons just fine, but only one second tier gryphon.

Here are my stats:

Strength : 34 Reflex : 50
Agility : 31 Charisma : 30
Discipline : 41 Wisdom : 41
Intelligence : 41 Stamina : 40

Casting GoL, MeF, and Tranq doesn't let met Manipulate a second middle tier gryphons, so I'm wondering what's involved in the check? EPedia says Empathy, obviously, but also Intelligence and Charisma? Should I pump Charisma (That would kind of suck, being involved only in Compel and Innocence)?

You need more empathy. You can always boost your charisma but it won't have the same effect as just having more empathy; the skill by far outmatches the stat in the equation. I've had this happen to me, too. Even if you just manipulate one of the second tier gryphons, you should learn reasonably well.

It's just Empathy and Charisma, but Empathy is the most important.

Curious. At 440 I would have thought I'd be above the range of taking two middle gryohons.

I seem to still train well on lower gryohons, grabbing two. What trains better - two slightly lower critters or one critter you can only get one of?
