I'm trying to find out what the best spell for training magics is. I can tell you what it's not, and that's healing spells. I've heard sphere of protection, what do you think?

Sphere works fine but if you've got Gift of Life and can cast it with a decent amount of mana, it works even better.

How much is a decent amount of mana? Is 25 ok?

That ought to do it fairly well. I'm at nearly that point myself. Able to cast at minimum prep + a 24 mana cambrinth with no backfires. I think it's 24 mana anyway.

one last question, how much MD do I need to charge an armband?

Depends on how much mana it holds, and how much you're attempting to charge.

If you're talking about a regular armband, you'll need a minimum of 32 arcana to focus and use it- though with baby chars, I can charge with less than that- if not effectively.

I daresay you have more than that.

Good luck!

:D, totally forgot to complete the question. What I had meant to ask was how much MD do I need to charge a regular armband without removing it?

wow, that's kind of steep... I was hoping it would be like 80.

OK quick MD rundown. The first 50 ranks are best done via those tap fans from the crossing premium curraro (spelling) shop. You can tap those fans to teach to 70 but you will start burning charges exponentially faster the higher you get.

In terms of cambrith you need 1 rank of MD per available room a cambrith item has in order to focus on it. So like a cambirth ring is capable of holding 4 mana so you need 4 ranks MD in order to focus on it. Cambrith armband holds 32 so you need 32 ranks.

Best training method using cambrith is charging it with the most mana you can and get a 5-6 second RT (providing you don't drop to far in attunment). You gain more mana charging then focusing so i might even charge twice.

I used GoL 10 + 11 camb. That has trained me well for years. I don't think 11 mana is a special number for camb anymore, but I'm too old to learn new tricks.

Min prep and charge your MD device at a mana level that will give you 5-6 seconds of RT.
Multiple charges if possible.

The charge RT doesn't matter so much. Just charge as much as you can that still lets you maintain attunement/cast your spell.

For anyone wondering how to train magics in high 300s/400s, I just found this method and thought I would share.

charge camb with 15 mana
prep gol 10
focus camb
pause 2
cast

I'm using the pause 2 because I can't currently snap cast it after charging. Without the pause 2, it will probably train a bit higher as well. Just wanted to share this, because training PM @ 360 has been hellish for me since I came back.

That is all.

If you put your prep before your charge you won't need extra pausing.

If you prep before you charge, it's a 5-6 second RT - in comparison to after charging, where I only delay 2 seconds in order to not backfire. Those 3-4 fewer seconds make a big difference in the difficulty of casting the spell.

Its not that hard to lock magics on an empath. I would take out that pause 2 and lower the mana level so you could cast it. GOL is one of the best magic teachers an empath has and will teach for a long time with ease.

Life Magic: 1260 49% mind lock (34/34)
Harness Ability: 1298 53% mind lock (34/34)
Power Perceive: 1157 05% mind lock (34/34)
Arcana: 1073 31% mind lock (34/34)

I don't really want to go into depth here since this is kinda the wrong spot but if you have any questions feel free to PM me.
