Re: Cleric meeting 06/30/2012 12:43 PM CDT

Thanks for the reply Ricinus- and sorry I couldn't make the meeting. I liked your description of what your vision of what communes should be.

I just want to repeat my concern that communes are useful enough that we will be wanting to use them enough to make learning theurgy similar to learning magic or scholarship.

Let me give you an example. Currently, I gravitate towards Flavius hunting undead simply because of the additional devotion it grants- not a crucial factor but it helps. Using the tm boost commune would certainly push in that direction too- not just for the boost, but since using the commune naturally would teach theurgy, probably similar to casting spells.

But I can't see any other communes we currently have or that are in the pipeline that fill that function. That is my concern.

I totally agree. I have a list of other communes I'd like to rework/create, but before I move on those I'd like to have a better idea exactly how they all fit together in devotion split/sect/whatever world where there would be decisions to make on which communes a player would want based on what sort of cleric they want to be. Now, even without this overarching plan, I think I can still start putting together changes and new stuff on the low end, so that's where I have to start to get ahead of things.

And keep in mind, cleansing the world of undead grants devotion because it's a ritual which means Theurgy. Hunting undead has a nice batch of tie-ins already established for a cleric to train the Theurgy skill without having to do too much extra, and may very well be the favored way to train the skill until more stuff is out there.

Try S.

Strikes, Safe, Swim, Super Safe, Stick/Sever Souls, Spheres.

Isn't this kind of moot since the commune will be in DR 3.0, and current alchemy is going away (Given how new craft systems have come in to replace "old" craft systems, that was my question at the meeting about needing new stuff), NEEDING water may not be necessary in new Alchemy.

So will you be adding some nice high level undead hunting with skinning?

I've been thinking about this since the meeting and as far as a water generating commune, I was thinking. What about making the whole blood to water thing a commune. It could be something folks have to find, although most know where it is, it could also cost devotion to use. Could even make a quest around it. Seems the mechanic is already there so just adding to it would be more productive then redoing it entirely. When using it you lose a bit of devotion, get the water, and learn some theurgy. Just my 2 coppers.

Well, keep in mind that going any route there would still be a need to remove the Eluned commune as it stands today. Looking at how things are shaping up so far, I'm pretty pleased with how the guild will be by X3 release, and extremely pleased with what I think will come to follow.

I think the water-making commune should be redesigned to provide a flat 25% boost to offense. That would definitely be awesome, and not at all problematic at high circles.

I think a water creation commune for Eluned is neat and fitting. While I wouldn't mind seeing a return of an offense commune, it would probably be more fitting for a different deity.

I agree. I too would like an offensive commune that didn't break any rules but what this makes me think of is the communes could be renamed to be more fitting.

Why will we still have two Eluned's communes? Change one to the other aspects.

Why will Tamsines provide a boost to TM against undead? Firulf would make more sense to me on that.

Kertigen's is fine.
Hodierna's is fine.
Meraud's is fine.
Truffenyi's is fine.

As I think of it- just Tamsines for TM and two Eluned's communes don't make any sense to me.

all the gods are said to hate the undead. Although to me, it would make more sense to have this commune associated with Faenella.
