This is driving my absolutely insane.

I am trying to get a Firulf orb from the Eyes of the 13. However, not only is the Kerenhappuch altar also in the room, but you can see the central altar from the room as well, and the system seems to enjoy defaulting to the central platform.

The OFFER verb also doesn't seem to like syntax like "other altar" or "lacquered altar." Suggestions? I magically got it to work one time, somehow, but I checked the syntax and the exact same thing doesn't seem to be working again.

I'm sorry that this can be confusing and if I can come up with a suitable fix I will make it happen, but let me explain.

You are attempting, or at least it seems that way, two separate communes or actions. The first and the one your actually performing is the offering of an item in exchange for devotion from your god. This is typically performed at some altars by placing the item on the altar and then OFFER (offering) on (altar. This however does not grant a favor nor does it work on all altars.

Second you can place specific items on an altar and "Pray" to receive a favor. This also does not work on all altars.

When I complete everything else currently on my plate I may well look at fixing this or making it more user friendly.

So will praying a few times net the desired effect of obtaining a Firulf orb? Or is the issue of too many altars effecting this as well?

Also, I noticed you didn't try 'offer qua on lac altar.' If one was trying to offer an item to a god for devotion, would this have worked?

Thanks for the tip. PRAYing worked nicely. Yes, it can indeed be a little obtuse and confusing for someone trying it for the first time.

The three altars in the room is probably my biggest complaint but I bet that would have more to do with whoever owns the area than you specifically, Lirrak.

I would, however, like to suggest one thing. I haven't really been training mech with my Cleric or I would have used an owl bead, but... all the immortals take a matching bead, trading card, or parchment primer along with one other random, deity-specific item. Kerenhappuch takes skirts, which can be bought right in Crossing at the stitchery. Meraud takes blood wolf pelts.

Firulf takes... staffs. He does not accept quarterstaffs or short staffs.

Can you look at getting his item changed to something else? Perhaps a specific runestone or some such? Staffs are mostly quest end prizes or bought from merchants years, years ago, so they are obscenely rare and I doubt anyone would sacrifice one for a favor orb.

The wood trolls (or is it grendels?) on the tierd hills north of the NE gate of crossing drop a staff he accepts (believe thats the one). Was odd as there are two wood troll areas out the NE gate, and only one has the correct item, but it's there. Is what I did before I realized I could make piles of owl beads...
