Asking for help. 03/23/2016 03:55 PM CDT
I have been away for 5 years or so. I need advice on picking spells and getting stats. I often hunt alone and prefer not to be stuck with undead.

I'm not a cleric but the first thing I would do is swap your warding and debilitation skills if you're still able to. Why? Because debilitation and targeted magic are trained at level (like a weapon skill) now. It's not going to break you either way, but having them in a closer skill range (as well as closer to your primary weapon skill) will make your life easier.

EXP SWITCH is a temporary command which is used to manage the grandfathered levels of the four new Magic skills which were introduced with DR 3.0, Utility skill, Warding skill, Augmentation skill, and Debilitation skill. This allows a player to choose for him- or herself the relative level of expertise in each of these new skills, by swapping the experience between them.

The EXP SWITCH command will only be available for the first 24 in-game hours after a character first logs in after the switch to DR3. It was available globally for the first calendar week after release on January 19, 2013.

skill wise your a perfect fit for shadow beast/basilisk. maybe cinder beast for soon. but the debilitation will be slow. TM will move well to a bit over 500.

I would recommend at least 50 strength and stamina. mental heavy and kind of balanced works for me.

Spells that i would say are a MUST....

HYH Mal MPP MAPP PFE BLESS OM BEN what ever you need for HARM HORDE... those are what i consider bread and butter spells and make up the backbone cleric magic for me... after that it is kind of optional and depending on what you want.

Just an FYI, you'll also be wanting to buy new weapons and armor. The forging system has changed in the past few years, and stuff produced now is lightyears in front of old system gear.

Stats:
For stats, I always shoot for 50 in everything, keeping it all mostly even, then start to specialize slowly, but never leaving anything too far behind. Once I hit 70 in all stats, then I'll start shooting 2 or 3 to 100, once those reach 100, I'll focus on another one or two to 100.

Spells:
My list of must-haves (I don't remember the prerequisites for these):
PoM: I don't know if any guild can match our mana regen when we have this up, it's pretty ridiculously awesome.
OM: makes keeping up buffs super easy, store your buffs in it, have one place to feed mana to keep em all powered instead of refreshing various buffs all the time.
Debil: HyH and Malediction for sure, it makes training debil super easy while also letting you move up the critter ladder a little faster/safer. Should be noted though, don't pick up HyH without picking up Malediction, CoZ or Uncurse, otherwise it's useless. I recommend malediction because it can be used on everything to debuff their offense, defense, or both. CoZ they have to be wearing armor and/or using weapons, uncurse, well, yeah.
MPP: Great for all around damage reduction (gives a percent damage reduction), and doesn't wear out after X amount of hits.
MAPP: Defending and Evasion boost.
SoL: Shield buff, and can actually arm-wear the medium shield this conjures up, I wear a normal small shield though in case I fudge things and let the spell drop.
Benediction: While not as potent as it used to be (until you hit 100 str/ref/agi), I feel it's a must have.
TM: FoU is my go-to trainer, for invasions I tend to use AE (with the Heavenly Fires meta). If you don't plan on hunting undead I'd avoid Harm Horde, I have it and never ever use it.
MF: I mean, self-raise, more ridiculous awesome-sauce.
--That's what I'd consider my absolute must haves for PVE, PVP is a different story. That list also isn't covering if you want to raise people, then you'd want vigil, soul bond, rejuvenation and of course resurrection.

For magical feats I highly recommend Improvised Rituals, Raw Channeling (so you can have a cyclic spell going without needing to hold mana), Efficient channeling if you're having mana issues, Efficient Harnessing (again, if having mana issues), I used the various masteries to counter-act the alignment penalties until I could cap every spell without them. Also, I hear people dog the dedicated cambrinth feat, but I love it and use it constantly. I can keep up a cyclic and use cambrinth for other spells I'm prepping/casting, or, charge cambrinth and use it just for the cyclic and get easy arcana learning.

Before chucking your armor/weapons, I'd definitely do some comparing, some of the old-forged stuff is better than what we can make these days with tyrium.

Moon Mages, and to a lesser extent Bards due to it coming from a cyclic, can. Both require two spells instead of just the one to achieve the same effect, though.
