As a bard, I just learned the first throw voice ability from the usual source.

However, when I try to teach it to a thief,<I know the proper syntax>, I get messaged the following:

<<You've not truly mastered it enough yourself to be able to teach it to anyone.>>

Skills & stats:
Performance: 182 52.08% clear (0/34)
Scholarship: 168 90.54% clear (0/34)

Charisma : 30
Circle: 40

<this is in 3.0>.

Any idea on what I may be missing?

I understand discipline plays a role, but it's also possible that the checks haven't been updated to 3.0, so you don't have enough Vocals or Teaching.
