>>Also, by your logic, if I were to let ANYONE into the guild, and 2 days later(after they log out in the guild, and relog at a later date), they were to cause trouble, it'd still be my fault?

I'm amazed you managed to figure out the logic in that, and then make yourself look like an idiot. Yes, it is your responsibility if you let in someone, they log out, and then back in to cause trouble.

>>Don't blame me for something someone else does, especially for something as simple as this. Maybe if I accidentally brought in an army of outcast, you'd have merit for throwing such a stink.

The bone I have to pick is the principle behind a bard escorting someone inside the portal and not taking responsibility for their guest, not that JR was murdered. Its unfortunate, but for all I know justified that people are pissed at him.

Don't know, and I really don't care what they are all fighting about. It didn't have to be taken care of inside an area that bards consider a sanctuary. Fact is, you either let in people you knew were going to murder someone inside the guild, or you were too stupid and/or naive to realize you were being used.

One death in DR terms is no big deal, favors can be replaced. Starting a trend of "it's not my fault" and not taking taking responsibility for one's actions is much more troublesome.

What is your view on causing a stink, if one actually happened, then running beyond the portal to avoid the consequences?

Or say, defending the guild when it is invaded.

Don't start on Leilond, if he knew my plans, he would never have let me in, fact it is i told him i needed to talk to a friend inside and it was a surprise, I lied. He has no control over me or my actions and to hold him responcable is sillyness.

Ok Tashya, I'm going to give you an example, then I'm done.
I've said I'm sorry, Rubix was punished, but apparently that isn't enough.

A Day in the Bard Guild

HappyInnocentPerson rings the bell.

Leilond just arrived.

Leilond says, "Hello there HappyInnocentPerson! What's your business in the bard guild?"

HappyInnocentPerson says, "I come bearing gifts! Please let me in?"

HappyInnocentPerson joins Leilond.

Leilond vanishes into the portal!

-
later inside the bard guild...
-

also here: Leilond, HappyInnocentPerson, and Bard1.

Leilond says, "I gotta take off, I forgot someone was waiting on me. Later, yo!"

Leilond just went east.

HappyInnocentPerson removes his HappyInnocentPerson mask, revealing that he's a hulking super troll!

Hulking super troll kicks Bard1.

* Bard1 was just struck down!

Bard2 just arrived in a shimmer of light.

Bard2 exclaims, "LEIIILOND! You've got some 'splainin' to do!"

Call me baby-face Lei.

I think its depends on the situation, and is very subjective. There are usually ten different versions of the truth by various folks. If someone enters and brings danger to others there, its cowardly.

>>Or say, defending the guild when it is invaded.

We hide the youngsters in certain parts of the guild that will remain unnamed all the time during invasions. Critters have gotten through the portal many times before. First thing I tell young bards to do is hide in a particular area if the critters are way above their means.

He doesn't have control over your actions, but he was still responsible none the less. Way to go lying to a friend.

I can see this is going nowhere fast. Its like kicking a puppy, I don't wanna do it. ;)

If nothing else, I really hope other bards take this to heart:

If you don't know the person ringing the chimes personally and trust them, don't let them in!

Your guests are your responsibility. Period. End of story.

Yeah i agree, this falls under the same catagory as fighting in clerics/emapths(when it was possible), its not the person whos fighting theres fault the fight was brought there, its the person who ran their to claim sanctuary.

There was no claim of santuary, Rub. We finished our hunt and went back to the guild. You took our sweet time coming to look for us. We were out in the open up till the time we went our separate ways.

And for the record, if there was consent (which there wasn't), it was my song that dropped you like a sack of potatos, not JRs. And I apologized for it. You continued to stand there like a dolt while we were fighting a room of ogres and wolves..(and through a few more resolves) and you were making us uncomfortable so you were asked to leave. After you left, we continued to enjoy our hunt. So don't give me any righteousness about us hiding from you in our santuary. We didn't give you a second thought after you left. You weren't worth it.

Get over yourself.

<<If you don't know the person ringing the chimes personally and trust them, don't let them in!

I disagree. I usually(when I do spend a few moments there, heh) wait to see if anyone else will deal with them, if not, I'll go see why they want in.

<<Your guests are your responsibility. Period. End of story.

I agree.

If you are willing to take responsibility for the people you are letting in, it doesn't matter if you know them personally and/or trust them. Its your call. Besides, it sounds like before this event, Leilond may have considered this person someone he would know personally and trust, so it wouldn't have made a difference.

<<>>Also, by your logic, if I were to let ANYONE into the guild, and 2 days later(after they log out in the guild, and relog at a later date), they were to cause trouble, it'd still be my fault?

Its not your fault unless you intended it to be that way. Whether someone else decides to blame you is another issue all together... but it isn't your fault. You aren't held responsible for something you have no control over in my book. Though ya might get a finger wagglin' if it does turn in ta trouble.<g> Like it looks like yer gettin' one this time too.<pat pat>

Years ago, I stopped escorting people in for pretty much any reason unless they were a good friend. Something happens once a year or so that reminds us that we do need to take this responsibility a little more seriously.

I was there the day the portal went in, I know why it happened.
