Would You Believe? Bluffing Made Easy 05/22/2006 03:37 AM CDT
Hah! As a Bard, you can BLUFF like so...

BLUFF <player|item|critter>
BLUFF <player|critter> <option>
Options: emperor, sister, lanival, baron, merchant, sidhlot, priest, swallow, glythtide, penguin
BLUFF <self>
BLUFF DODGE to dodge in combat.
BLUFF DISTRACT to gain a better chance at hiding.
BLUFF AMAZE to put on a charismatic show.
BLUFF DEAD to play dead. * Be warned, this could get you killed! *

As Bards, we are masters of deception. Oh, those shadowy types can certainly give us a run for our money (or is it run with our money? I forget...), but we do it with STYLE!

Most of our Bluff abilities are pure fluff. Fun fluff, granted, but just for fun and games. The last four, however, are a little bit more than just window dressing, and can actually benefit us immensely. Each comes with a cost to our precious mojo, but sometimes it's well worth the cost.

Bluff Dodge: This one puts us in a position to dodge, but also uses our skill in deception to temporarily confuse and mislead our enemies. The end result is that Bluff Dodge will make you just that much harder to hit. It's certainly not the end-all of defenses, but it can help keep you alive for relatively little cost.

Bluff Distract: By the ancient art of misdirection, you attempt to divert the attention of your audience elsewhere so that you can disappear. While Bards are generally not known for their exceptional hiding skills, using Bluff Distract can help immensely in a pinch.

Bluff Amaze: Sometimes it helps to toot your own horn and let the entire world know just how incredibly awesome you are! Bluff Amaze puts on an impressive show that can directly benefit the Bard by increasing their charm and appeal, as well as their strength of personality. However, it doesn't come without a cost, and Bards who believe their own hype may find themselves slightly more vulnerable to bruised egos, among other things.

Bluff Dead: This one is great for parties, but it has practical applications a well! Just like the wise ol' possum, you may find that sometimes it pays to just let your enemies think you are dead. Of course, if they had you on the menu, that may not always be the best idea... In all seriousness, though, Bluff Dead is a life-saver, as strange as that sounds. This is one party trick that you would be well-advised to take seriously, as it may very well keep you alive when all else fails.
