My normal suggestions would be Blood wolves, but you're F2P so can't get up there unless you want to buy a pass.

You could try Crocodiles, that's still in Zoluren right? Grave worms might work too, but you'd have to deal with going in through Germish-whatever.

The transitions might be a little rough.

Crocs are a hair high for those defenses to hunt safely, with 4 for sure. Grave worms should be ideal. Just have a weapon in hand when you dig the grave, it seems to make things easier. Athletics helps a lot, too.

Snowbeasts -> young ogres -> blue belly crocs -> dire bears -> river sprites -> leucros -> guardians -> geni

All in P1 for F2P folks with a good mix of skinning and boxes to hopefully let you keep up whichever ones you use.

Try grave worms. They should take you to the 130s or so. https://elanthipedia.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Grave_Worm

From there, thicket vipers may be a good choice.

Silver-backed bears are a good next step also.

Just have to be aware that dire bears often make appearances when hunting silvers and high tail it out of there when they do.

Thank you all for the suggestions.

Silver-back bears stopped teaching me weapons, which is why I went down to snowbeasts. I was going to try grave worms, but I couldn't figure out how to get in. Where are the young ogres? I only encountered bears in the rocky outcrop.

Thanks again,

Trig

I don't think it's a secret, so... go here: https://elanthipedia.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/RanikMap63 find the room marked A and dig.

To add a little, you can dig on most/all of the graves, and get teleported to the area with the GW. Germish-whatever are like a 200 or 400 rank critter, so avoid them, they'll kill you quick.

I forget the actual in game verbage for successfully digging, but it becomes quickly apparent if it worked.
