This started as a bard idea buuut... it seemed so much more like a Barbarian thing!

I'm going to say upfront it stretches the boundaries of imagination a bit!

dance lead medium edged
Your skill in medium edged allows you to direct others around you to practice the same.
Similiar to a dogo master teaching apprentices. You direct people around you how to use a skill.
Like teaching it teaches students the skill. However unlike teaching, it doesn't require awesome teaching skills to teach the skill well. Anyone with good weapon ranks could do it for anyone from another guild. You can use it in combat to boost the skills of those around you. So if you wanna take your favorite bard who can sing SIRE out into wherever and teach the bard some weapon skills too, even if perhaps the bard isn't quite up to par with your skills, they could still train with you.

Interguild cooperation!

As much as I like the concept of this idea, I have to say it kind of undermines the Teaching skill a little bit.

As a compromise to not requiring the Teaching skill, what if all participants of the dance/kata experienced occasional Roundtime from the dance and could not perform other actions while dancing? Similar to Bard practices in that any action will interrupt the dance session.

You should seriously consider just making this a disclaimer for all your posts. Anyway...

I'm sort of thinking that this is part of how teaching should work already. But I'm of the personal opinion that we don't need a whole new skill that almost completely mirrors an existing one.

I DO, however, love the idea of abilities that would promote specific inter-guild cooperation. It especially makes sense (to me, at least) between Bards and Barbarians.

In any event, keep those weird and wacky ideas brewing!
