Warding question 09/23/2012 05:21 PM CDT
Ok can we get some clarification about warding...

from elanthipedia.org
>>The Warding skill will be substituted for Primary Magic skill when activating a character's abilities that are defenses against the supernatural. This includes barriers against magic or 'dispellation' type effects. It will be learned on activation of the defense and not when a hostile supernatural attack contests the defense, but will not play a role in the actual defending contest. <<

So we train warding by using the abilities to give us magical defense but the warding skill actual does nothing other then give us TDP's? Kinda what it sounds like. So having say 2000 warding vs. 2 warding wont effect the actual power of your "anti-supernatural" abilites?

I thought the point of the skill was to be a measurement of how powerfull (aka skill check) your warding abilites would be and not just how often we use them? If not what skill determines the power or is it going to be stat based only?

The only differences between Barbarian "magic resisting" abilities and a warding spell is that Barbarians will not be able to set the power level, it will automatically set itself based on your skill and we'll have the most potent magic resisting barriers.

The skill will still matter very much.

The Warding skill is supposed to determine how well you can use your own warding abilities. There is no such thing as a debilitation vs. warding skill check: both skills govern how well each are able to use their respective abilities.

Anything that does damage will certainly have some kind of skill check, but anything non-damaging can certainly be based only off stat contests.
