Closed Economy 08/12/2012 04:41 AM CDT
So, people say there's a problem with inflation, I'm not convinced, but in the interests of me being bored, I thought I'd bring it up.

Ignoring the coding efforts, and whether or not inflation is actually a problem, what would people think of a closed economy, one in which there is a set amount of money in the game.

For arguement's sake, assume all money not in player hands would go into a pool that any system could pull from in any location. Systems would stop paying out when there is nothing in the pool. The overall amount in game would somehow be derived from the number of active characters, so as to prevent an abrupt drop in payout due to a population explosion.

Thoughts?

The money would rapidly end up in the bank accounts of a few players. Bad idea.
