Registered Item Update 07/08/2015 03:53 AM CDT
Several updates just went in to make it easier to identify items that are registered to others, hopefully to clue you in to questionable purchases at the time. Forums formatting isn't great, but hopefully the examples are still clear.

APPRAISE now has a line if it's registered indicating whether it's yours or someone else's:

The funny blade looks to bear your familiar marks of registration.
Unfamiliar marks of registration are evident on the blade.

REGISTER CHECK now has similar indications:

You take a moment to recall your registered items...
......1) 1/11/2013 a funny blade with wicked stuff
......X) A funny blade with wicked stuff is registered to someone else.
Roundtime: 3 sec.

The ACCEPT verb now messages the person accepting an item -- whether it's a GIVE/ACCEPT, a BARTER exchanging two items (works both ways), or a BARTER exchanging an item + coins:

You accept Minime's offer and are now holding a funny blade with wicked stuff.
You notice unfamiliar marks of registration upon it.

Minime's point of view of item+item barter:
You accept Zadraes's offer and take a sad knife as you hand him a funny blade with wicked stuff.
You notice unfamiliar marks of registration upon it.

Zadraes's point of view of item+item barter:
Minime has accepted your offer and takes the sad knife as he hands you a funny blade with wicked stuff.
You notice unfamiliar marks of registration upon it.

Lastly, Trader auction halls won't allow them to sell registered items. This may cause some short term pain, to which I apologize, but long term we need to shift the responsibility of making sure items are registered (or unregistered) by the right people. I'm holding off on market tables and shops in hopes that these other changes lead to better habits.

We're still keeping an eye on how the Lost and Found mechanics play out and may make additional tweaks to other mechanics if necessary. Hopefully these updates help make registration more visible, since otherwise people don't think about it unless they're in the office.

These updates are live everywhere EXCEPT for the APPRAISE verb in TF. TF's appraise verb will come with the woodworking/lumberjacking release.

Very, very cool update. Thank you for continuing to work on this, it's really a great boon and I'm sure it saves a ton of GM time and effort too!

I'll continue to hope that you guys can think of a way for someone to unregister items belonging to someone else that isn't terribly abuseable too. :>

Any chance register check can sort items by registration date?

Uzmam! The Chairman will NOT be pleased to know you're trying to build outside of approved zones. I'd hate for you to be charged the taxes needed to have this place re-zoned. Head for the manor if you're feeling creative.

I'll look into it. Not easily, but possibly.

Made a couple minor updates tonight.

There have been bug reports from people who unregistered items, but they still showed up in REGISTER CHECK with an X belonging to someone else and APPRAISE with unfamiliar marks. Technically the system saw them as registered to "no one", rather than fully unregistered. This is because of the way things were unregistered before. If you do a REGISTER CHECK while in possession of such items or try to unregister them, these will self-fix and should no longer show up.

I also added a message when the timer that blocks you from going back in expires. The timers weren't changed, but it's shorter if you leave on your own after you get the warning message rather than waiting to be dragged out.
