Anyone know how to get a passport to Hvaral?

At this map: http://elanthipedia.org/w/index.php/RanikMap45

There is a gate that goes west and I get this, tried to interact with the soldier but the soldier doesn't seem to actually exist.

>go gate
A soldier moves a pike across the way to block your passage. "No one proceeds through this checkpoint without a passport. Get a passport and come back."

Just following up here because I finally got around to going back>

>go gate
A soldier moves a pike across the way to block your passage and requests a passport. After you show him your papers, he nods and ushers you through.

That was correct - thanks again.

I made it to the left side of this map finally, only to find out it is more of the same crappy map/maze design. Seriously who created this area? Is there a secret to it? Most annoying area I have ever been in.

What are you trying to do? Go to Muspar'i? Go to Haizen Cugis?

Maybe try the sand barge? It stops at both locations. It is in thick of a desert and there really isn't any sort of visible pathway. The directions on the map are right and you can actually ride a horse to kill some of the RT.

Knowing what you are trying to accomplish would help us when we are trying to give you advice. :)

Roundtime: 15 sec.

You utterly fail in your attempt to climb up the dune, tossing sand everywhere.
Roundtime: 15 sec.

You attempt fruitlessly to climb northwest up the dune but don't quite make it.
Roundtime: 15 sec.
>w
You dig into the sand as you pitifully attempt to climb west up the dune.
Roundtime: 15 sec.
>sw
You trudge southwest along the sand dune.
Weapon Master Codiax trudges along the dune from the northeast.
[Velaka Desert]
Dark and oppressive shapes loom on all sides, the shadowy nocturnal visages of the towering star-shaped dunes which dominate this portion of the Velaka Desert, stoic and silent. The horizon in every direction is blocked by the hulking mountains of sand, making navigation by landmark an impossibility, the dunes themselves changing shape in the passing wind. Overhead, visible only over the peaks of the darkened hills, the sky serves as a reminder of the depth of the valley.
Obvious paths: north, northeast, east, southeast, south, southwest, west, northwest.
Roundtime: 1 sec.

So I can only go SW - all other directions give me a 15 second RT. SW * 100 goes no where.

looking for a treasure map location that is west of where I am, just head west, that is the goal lol, but seriously I can go no direction except SW. and that isn't getting me anywhere.

Just for my knowledge, did you already go to Muspar'i and check the map? And when you did, it said it was East of the city?

Personally, I would check my map from outside Muspar'i gates, and see what it told me. If it was East, I would check it again from the oasis stop and see what it told me. Obviously it's West of Hvaral, otherwise you wouldn't be there now.

If it is indeed out in the desert proper, your best bet would be to ride a horse around if you have one. Or, you can just buy one from Theren Keep. But yeah, I'd ride the barge and check near the locations it stops at first before running around in the sand.

So I actually assisted for this one and I was indeed in a stuck spot. Not enough skill to get out.

In the interest of allowing skilled players to shave some travel time between Hvaral and Muspar'i, the sand barge travel time was reduced and an oasis was added at the half-way point, which also allows for players who change their mind mid-trip and want to head back to Hvaral. You can also walk from Hvaral to Muspar'i but, while the trek from Hvaral to the oasis is only somewhat difficult, once you start walking west beyond the oasis, the travel does become extreme and it is intended. You're crossing a vast desert where the surrounding area is supposed to give the impression that one dune looks the same as the next. These features were added a while back and aren't particularly new...this is just me tossing out additional information.

There are also additional measures that you can take to help ward off the effects of the desert heat, like wearing a hooded cloak and making sure to drink plenty of water. Lastly, if you stand too long in the path of the sand barge, you will likely get run over. (It's so hard to train yeehars. :sighs:)

One thing I did notice after your assist was that there's some back end quirks about the Muspar'i end of the walk that I'll need to look at but, for now, it's nothing that should effect your ability to cross, provided you have the skill.

How much skill does it take to get from the oasis to Muspar'i via the desert? Athletics is the skill required, correct? How does having a horse help?
