Almalne Alolan! A new tiered hunting area! 10/14/2015 06:10 AM CDT
Heading north a way along the road from Shard, just northeast of the path to Steelclaw clan, you may notice a gate leading into the orchards that was not so obvious before. This leads to Almalne Alolan, a new hunting area full of prereni, deer native to Ilithi!

The area also has herbs, tons of flowers, delicious purple Ilithi apples, and a treehouse! (That I can't make the climb into alone! Shaaame.) Make sure to go out and smell the roses! Er... irises!

From the gate leading in, you can go north, then going east you can cross the river stones to the Estate Holder only area... going north instead will take you to the edge of the young prereni. Heading through the brambles there will take you into your common prereni. Heading north you will find a big tree and if you look closely, handholds that you can climb up. If you head west instead you can climb a different tree into the adult prereni area, from which you can explore to the north and south.

Thanks!

P.S. Help updating their skill levels on Elanthipedia would be appreciated!
P.P.S. Seems they are skinnable for skins and bones now!
P.P.P.S. Ilithi apple-roasted venison. Nom.

Are they just copies of brocket deer? Those were such great creatures.

They act the same but they're not copies, the teaching ranges are different. Love it for my alts, thank you so very very much these are great.

Anyone know what the general teaching ranges for these things are?

Youngs look like they soft cap around 190ish? Teaching very well in the 160-170s. Those are the easiest of the three. Not sure on the other two tiers yet.

If you cross the stones on the stream to the east, you're in another young prereni area. Go path takes you north into a common prereni area with go passage into an elder area. The east of stream areas are two rooms each. The treehouse has two rooms as well.

They do seem to be the same as brocket deer but without the cougars. One swarm came in with six prereni.

Great area!

I've been loving this area. The elders are perfect for most of my combat training, and then the adults are right there for some of my lower weapons and training parry. Haven't gone back in since before they became skinnable, but with that I think I'll probably be in there until I cap out the elders.

I also like all the little touches in the area, with the apples and flowers and such.

Definitely slightly more difficult than their brocket deer counterparts.

What range are you talking for the largest ones?

For the elders, the appraisal dropoff from training 'acceptably' to 'somewhat poorly' seems to be somewhere between 300 and 330 ranks.

Just a heads up, the links in the original post no longer work as I did some administrative editing of the pages. You can still find them all by typing 'prereni' in the search bar and clicking on 'go' or hitting enter. All three pages could use a bit of updating with info too as people discover stuff.

Happy hunting and editing!

I want to note that the premium versions of all of them are a bit harder than the regular ones.

In the premium only area i can't find a room that spawns elder's. It would be fantasyic if there was a room for the elders since the normal area only has 3 rooms which are typically taken.

Is there not one go passage beyond the path?

There is a room with elder prereni in the premium area, however, they are harder than the regular ones. This is true across the board. Young premium are harder than regular, etc.

I will also take a peek in at the hunting areas over the next couple of weeks and see if things are getting full. If so, I can see about expanding each section that needs it a little bit.

Just to note that this won't be any time soon most likely as I have a lot going on outside of DR.

I can confirm in the past few weeks there is an "elder" room. Once over the stone (N then E from the entrance), go path (those will be the mid-levels), move north then go passage and you'll have a pair of elder rooms.

I got sidetracked with Arena stuff and life, but do have this area (finally!) mapped out. I'll clean those up and try and upload them...soon?
(hah, don't even need to be a GM to pull that off!)

It'll be on this map when I do get that update rolled in though:
http://www.kythsjournal.com/maps/map50.htm

I didn't see anyone else in the premie area when I was exploring and documenting over a couple days, but those open-access rooms were all pretty busy.
