The unyan and oshu caves are not premium only. And, yes, maps can lead in there. We've found a few treasures down there in the past.

This is correct. We've never had a map lead to a premium-only area. Every so often there will be a buggy map, but in the ninety-eight or so we've found there have been maybe ten that had to be replaced by a GameHost or GameMaster.
