I asked about this at a recent Bard meeting. I was told that the Bard sentinel is ready to go, just waiting on the WM sentinel, which apparently needs a lot of work.

Could anyone provide some lore on what the Asery sentinels are? Ever since noting the short blurb about the Aesry Bards' Guild (or lack thereof) on the Bards' Guild Elanthipedia page, I've never managed to find any other mention of whatever they are.

Basically, two towers built to defend the city from Dzree's armies. Bards and Warrior Mages joined forces to stop the Dragon Priests and save the city. I'm not sure from these descriptions if one tower is 'the Bard tower' and one is 'the War Mage tower,' but it would appear that way given the current state of development. Sources below.

GENT

This was from the Aesry page on epedia:

>>After the fall of the Empire, much of Qi fell into chaos and piracy became rampant. The largest and boldest of the freebooters would even dare to raid inland upon the islands, and the rich city of Aesry Surlaenis'a was one of their targets. Frustrated, the most prominent families of the island turned to the Warrior Mage guild for assistance in 205 BL. A year later, construction was begun on the Grey Tower, followed by the White Tower some twenty-five years later. Built to protect the single pass leading to the interior of the island, the towers are jointly known today as the Sentinels.

>>The construction of the Sentinels was extremely fortuitous, as the Dragon Priests invaded Surlaenis in 160 BL. After landing, they found themselves faced with the final vestiges of Ring Clan, who were wiped out in a three day battle that slowly moved up the outer slopes to the pass that led to the interior. The Dragon Priests finally reached the Sentinels, but they could not force a passage beyond them, so they laid siege at the pass; a siege that would last for one hundred and sixty years. Cunning strategies would be attempted by both sides to break the stalemate and great battles would be fought in attempts to dislodge either force, but nothing would answer.

This blurb is from the History of the Warrior Mage Guild v. 2:

>>About thirty years after Dzree began her reign (around 160 BL) that the Warrior Mages started to openly defy the Dragon Priests. In an attempt to defend Surlaenis Island, the Warrior Mages and Bardic allies manned the Sentinels where the Dragon Priest armies were stopped, thereby protecting the bards and the Ru'atin Peri'el from the savagery of the hordes.

>>The Warrior Mage Guild was not openly blamed for the defeat at the Sentinels, but those Warrior Mages who had defended it were named traitors and sentenced to death. The Warrior Mage Guild was watched even closer than it had been before, and was forced to lie low until Dzree had been done in by Sithsia's self- fulfilling prophecy.
