The IM I quoted was actually a quote in turn from... I want to say an LJ post?

>Eugene doesn't get very icy, either.
I must have had a bad experience when I lived there for a few months then. I thought icy rain sounded like fun until I slipped big time in front of some cute college girls.
Anyway, sorry to hear about all the snow! It was really sunny and hot today in Hawaii. haha mainlanders.

In keeping with the "it's too cold" theme I'll provide more quotes about the weather from around here:
>>It was 14 degrees in Portland this morning, which is like the Chicago equivalent of 40 degrees below zero. Had to dodge some polar bears who were blocking the bike lane. They had a gray-bearded recumbent rider down, were tearing hungrily through his lycra like it was Saran wrap.
>>Further down the road, 100 yards into a good steep climb, a mama bear and her cubs were ripping into a fixie rider. He was trying to defend himself with one of those cute little u-locks they all carry in their skinny jeans. Not pretty, but I think the film crew from Animal Planet got it all.

<<I thought icy rain sounded like fun
Icy rain is the absolute worst. It gets under your clothes and covers everything in a sheen of ice. At least with snow you have a fighting chance.

Meh. Up in Canada we do all that and have to walk to school uphill. Both ways. Nyah.

Last year I worked a load of concerts in the winter. Nothing like moving 800lbs of drum gear in flightcases with rusted wheels on a loading dock which happened to be dotted with sections of cigarette and beer fused ice chunks.
First thing you learn up here is to get good boots, second thing is that scarfs arnt just for girls and sissys.

This morning started with school cancelations for this area, many happy kids. When I managed to finally open my eyes I gazed out into an old fashion blizzard.... huzzah!!!
Up here in the mountains we were suppose to get about 35 centimeters of snow, but so far only about half of that fell. It's a good day to stay inside and get the holiday baking done.

Just go back in the house,
Pour another cup of coffee,
And stay there!
It probably isn't going to be a good day....
