I have an affinity for snakes, and have produced several clutches/litters of species. They make great pets, hypoallergenic, low maintenance, and keep the door to door sales men away.
I'd love to see some unique species, from small to ginormous. (The first snake I ever got bit by was a reticulated python named Tiny). The bigger they are, the more I like em.

There's something disturbing about a S'kra keeping a snake as a pet.

Is it better or worse than a human keeping a money as a pet?

Probably about the same, but I think monkeys (or any sort of primate) as a pet is weird.
I'd probably say the same for Prydaens keeping cats as pets, as well.

Depends if they're a trader or not.

Not as weird as you'd initially think. S'Kra Mur usually openly dislike hair and fur. It's not all that weird for them to enjoy having a pet that 1. is also scaled 2. is close to the representation of their gods 3. isn't going to leave hair/fur/etc all over their home.
As to Prydaens keeping a cat as a pet.. It's more weird than anything considering their culture. A Prydaen that was raised with an "Eastern" mindset probably would do it and not think twice about it. A Prydaen that clings to more traditional ways? That cat is probably there as a snack for later.

An old Prydaen says, "This is my pet cat, I call him "lunch."
You skillfully remove the vanilla cheesecake from your abdomen leaving the wound no worse than it was before.

As does Alf. There you go, Alf is really a prydaen!
