Spousal consent 01/09/2015 02:26 PM CST

<PvP Stance and Spouses

If Player A gains consent on Player B while A's PvP stance is set to Open, A's spouse cannot act on that consent (Unless, of course, the B's PvP Stance is set to Open as well).>

So....basically there is no spousal consent for PvP open people? Cause if B is open, consent isn't needed. Way to take a part of the game, and just throw it in the trash while overreacting and eliminating valid RP. This will just make the people looking to gank opens even bolder cause now there is even less chance of retribution.

That's not new policy it's from December, 2009. GM Zeyurn posted about it then.

The News article got bumped for people to read based on another poster's request for clarification on spouses and consent.

Is News 1 31 current? I thought that spousal consent for PvP open players had been restored in 2009 after they made it impossible to hide your spouse in your profile.

In November 2008, it was announced that attacking PvP open players would not result in consent for their spouses. This was in response to abuse by some policy players, who would bond a little PvP open character to a big spouse and then hide that spouse from his profile. The little open character would go around goading people into fights as a means of tricking people into granting consent to the big spouse that they didn't know about.

A year later, GM Zeyurn announced the return of spousal consent for PvP open characters but made it so that PvP open characters could not hide their spouses from their profile.

OPEN PvP profile and Spousal Consent on 12/07/2009 05:30 PM CST

With the advent of Profile 2.0 and the inability to hide who your spouse is if you are set to Profile Open, we are again allowing the spouses of Open people to benefit from Spousal Consent.

What this means is:

- If you are Open, and you are attacked or events occur in which you would have standard consent per policy, EITHER you or your spouse may handle things per normal policy. However, just like normal people and their spouses, this is an either / or situation, you may not both deal with it.

- Once 'one death' has been satisfied in any attempt to take advantage of spousal consent, it's done.
For Example: Joe attacks Bob and kills Bob. Bob's wife Lara attacks Joe. Joe kills Lara too. Joe and Lara are both done with consent on each other. If Lara had killed Joe instead, it is the same deal.

Please direct any discussion to the PvP policy folder.

Never heard of that, nor seen it anywhere. Got a link/location where it is? That being said, as far as policy goes, that is really really silly. A is married to C and they are both open. B walks in and procedes to murder A. C must then stand by and watch, taking no action against said murderer other than telling his spouse to send in a report? Basically taking a 100% IC interaction and RP event and turning it into a 100% OOC thing. Then said player of C has to either have the RP of NEVER DOING ANYTHING TO THE MURDERER OF HIS WIFE, or hope a GM locks the murderer open and the murderer is found before the period of being locked open is over. Seems to me its just a another penalty for being open.

This is the original announcement from 11/21/2008 in which consent was taken away from spouses of PvP open characters due to abuse:

However, as I said before, that policy seems to have been superseded on 12/07/2009 by this announcement, in which spousal consent was restored when PvP open characters could no longer hide their spouses from their profiles:

NEWS 1 31 has been updated to reflect current policy:

PvP Stance and Spouses

If you are Open, and you are attacked or events occur in which you would have standard consent per policy, EITHER you or your spouse may handle things per normal policy. However, just like normal people and their spouses, this is an either / or situation, you may not both deal with it.

Once 'one death' has been satisfied in any attempt to take advantage of spousal consent, it's done. (Unless everyone is Open, then have at it!).
