I'm in a very swarmy critter right now, and with a zombie and a construct, am, for the first time ever, seeing zero of said critter in the room or in the area.

As soon as I release both, critters arrive, and continue spawning.

Unfortunately a number of hunting areas are not set up to take player summonable things into account. I fixed it in test for that one spot, but maybe we can come up with a more global solution.
