Snipe and poach RTs are now fixed.

I am not convinced Snipe should get a damage bonus because you remain hidden, which is a large perk in and of itself. The current to-hit bonus is more appropriate in my mind. we'll see once the dust settles what tweaking should be done. Maybe we can do a small to-hit and a small damage bonus like I did with smite.

>I am not convinced Snipe should get a damage bonus because you remain hidden

Come on. Let's hold of on this for a bit. It is SOOO easy to train perception, WATCH is a perception hack, and there are a whole host of spells that boost perception.

If in PVP, someone can't see someone at level snipe them (or load or aim for that matter) they need to go kick piles of rocks for few months like the other 439 people in game at any given time are doing.

Let's not take one of the last remaining perks of stealth and hit it with the nerf bat just yet.

Unless you want to make the trade and take WATCH out of the game, and down tweak the perception training of collecting?

Likewise, you could make the contest to stay hidden a bit more difficult as well?

Thats an issue with perception then. I'm not sure snipe should justifiably deal extra damage cause of a system design issue elsewhere. The main benefit of snipe is accuracy (cant see the blow coming) and you get to stay stealthed. I think in 2.0 the former aspect resulted in 'tons' of damage, but thats mitigated down.

On the other hand an ability like backstab which reveals you and goes through generally tougher stealth vs perception checks should have some rather delicious damage bonuses. Depending on your guild, your decisions between 'safe and ranged' or 'deadly but melee'. For necro/ranger, i feel its clearly an advantage to be able to snipe, because it makes WATCH not as applicable unless they get the drop on you (in which case, the logical disadvantage makes sense).

However I think WATCH should be removed, always did through years of being a stealth prime guild member. Its way to OP in terms of how it plays with the stealth/perc calc.

WATCH won't work if they don't know you are coming... also, you can't WATCH 2 people at once and WATCH has a cooldown. Is it really that big of a problem for folks?

I hate the WATCH verb and always have. I don't even play a thief, who are usually the ones not happy about WATCH.

IMO stealth should be balanced so that WATCH isn't required. Benefits and drawbacks and all that.

Again to recho, WATCH I think has disrupted balance with stealth and stealth guilds for a long time. I would love to see it removed and balance brought to those contests without having such a powerful 'trump'. I think facing bonuses already give you a perception bonus against a target (?), so watch just seems like overkill.

I agree with you though if you are being a real sniper, they should never get the chance to WATCH.

I can see that there is an advantage to staying hidden, the problem is that because of perception being somewhat hax right now, you run into the fact that "staying hidden" doesn't help that much. Because everyone has perception through the roof.

I'm not sure how it works now, if you get any bonus at all for a failure, but I think it should work like this:

Full Success Snipe = Moderate To-Hit+ (same as poach) & Moderate Damage+
Partial Success Snipe (slip from hiding) = Moderate to-hit (same as poach but with different messaging)
Partial Failed Snipe = Fire (pulled from hiding - spot effect)
Epic Fail Snipe = Penalty like (like 50% aim?)

You could even bump the difficulty a bit, IF (big if) you tweak the training on perception a bit and definitely nix WATCH.

>Is it really that big of a problem for folks?

Yes, people have said it's a hack from the very beginning and no one has every listen. It's got to be near global caps for a bonus (and I don't know if stacks).

OR... if you want to even the field, I want to be able to HIDE from <PLAYER> where I get a bonus to stealth and stealing against that one player, but in doing that, I have a penalty for everyone else.
It could even message something like, "What was that? Oh well, you must be seeing things."

Are there ways to break WATCH? For example, immobilizers, stuns, etc? Seems it would be a worthwhile tool to give stealth heavy guilds.
