Sound Manipulation Bugs 12/31/2012 05:11 PM CST
After I finish up with Elemental Invocations (Meaning DEMA and CARE) the next spellbook I'm going to do a pass over is the Sound Manipulation book.

For reference that means:

Demrris' Resolve
Drums of the Snake
Eillie's Cry
Harmony
Hodierna's Lilt
Naming of Tears
Resonance

It would be super helpful if instead of having a million bug reports scattered all over (And I do...) we could just compile any known issues with those 7 spells for now in this thread. Typos, bugs, bad descriptions, etc. Don't worry about preqs or difficulty of the spells, I'll be reviewing both of those things as well but I have my own plans there.

The only still-pertinent bugs I could find for Sound Manipulation in these forums are for Resonance. I'll see if I can find some time to test each one of these spells again myself tonight or tomorrow.

Resonance
- 1 -
Swappable weapons that have had Resonance cast on them may not experience the damage stat increase with all of the swapped states.

Couldn't find a swappable weapon to test on but I don't see a GM post saying this was fixed

- 2 -

After throwing a stack of throwing blades which have had resonance cast on them, each time you attempt to get one of the blades it first gives some messaging of the bond being severed, and then you can pick up the blade by executing the command again. It does that for each of the 5 blades.

I doubt this will work on a stack of throwing blades any time soon, throwing blades have never been able to be bonded and probably won't interact with the spell right whatsoever for every blade.

Yeah... Resonance has some serious issues. I've already started giving it the evil eye. It was not exactly converted well.

On Hodierna's Lilt, even at the cap the Spirit and Health restoration are very negligible. Only seems to be 1% Spirit regen each pulse, and maybe 2-3% for Health.

Oh Harmony, is there anyway we could get a CAST QUIET option so we can control whether or not it displays all of the messaging with us jumping around and such?

I forget what used to control that in 2.0, but there was a way we could control the messaging a bit in 2.0.

Same result for lower circle/stat bards? The health numbers remind me of the recent quest prize that is a static boost (so was showing up at like 1% vit bonus for Squanto).

I posted about this one in the Magic folder, but there seems to be a bug with Misdirection's debuff. Against louts, I get 42 seconds of debuff no matter how much mana I use. According to Kodius, that shouldn't be happening; against the same critter, more mana should always give more duration.

I'm not at home so I can't confirm it, but it sounds an awful lot like you're smashing them so badly in the contest you're always getting max duration.

Do you see this same problem with higher level mobs?

Kodius said that isn't how duration's supposed to work. A low mana smashing success shouldn't give as much duration as a high mana one.

No, against higher critters I get more duration for more mana.

So I figured out what's going on. Either Kodius is incorrect, or the system is not working as designed.

I cannot, at this time, say which it is but I'll investigate.

Not to put words in Kodius' mouth, I think he meant it more in the sense that, on a theoretical level, he doesn't think they should work that way. Not that, on a mechanical level, they are literally not meant to do that right now.



The teeth lands a solid (5/23) hit that pokes the teeth into Turul's rear end (more embarrassing than painful!).
