Hello - has anyone experienced something where your scripts just stop working? IE: they don't hang or anything like that, instead you type .<script> and absolutely nothing happens.
>.magic
[Script magic is running, Esc to cancel, Shift-Esc to pause]
[script aborted]
(I aborted it myself). Basically it seems like the script is running, but there aren't any commands going out. Additionally, it will happen while a script is working just fine, and then kaput (while it's running). The only solution I've found in the past is fully restarting stormfront. This happened just now (hence the post), except it happened again when I restarted SF, after about three commands in my script.
Thanks!

I have noticed some weird things like that since HE fest. Like the script is running, but literally, all of a sudden, you see nothing happening, not even what others in the room are doing. If I type look, all of a sudden, a gigantic scroll is generated of everything I missed and the script is just plugging away (and invisibly all that time that I see nothing happening). I could see how this could be misleading and someone might think they disconnected or are experiencing excessive lag, but really, the script is actually still going. I noticed it a lot at the Spinneret. I still notice it in some rooms on another character while I braid vines and someone else is in the room doing something.

Yes, I've noticed this happens periodically. I usually just restart SF and the problem is solved.

It doesn't just happen to scripts...I don't use scripts usually, but I still get the stall (usually after a last command I typed) and then have to breathlessly wait for the long scroll whipping by to see whether I survived the stall. Twice I nearly died by the time the scroll ended.
And yeah, during and since HE is when I have noticed this. And I can't think of what might cause it because it has been random.

I'm pretty sure that's not what he's talking about, guys. I experienced this problem as well. You can enter commands manually just fine, everything keeps happening around you, scripts just don't do anything. I was seeing this as far back as a year or so ago, right before I joined staff. I have no idea what causes it, and restarting StormFront always worked for me.
My only guesses were it had to do with the length of time scripts had been continuously running, or if you call scripts from within scripts. These are my guesses because I only observed it when I tried to use StormFront for The Fallen.

Javac's got it! Everything else reacts as normal, just scripts won't run.
Yeah, I'd say I noticed it at least a year ago, maybe a little more. The circumstance yesterday though, the first time it hadn't been running that long, and second (after restarting SF), it had just been running for maybe ten seconds. Pretty basic script too.
Anyway, everything is fine now...just was more curious if it was just something localized to me, and if it was a known issue. Thanks for the response!

Yeah, that's a good description of it. However, I notice where it hangs up is pretty random. Sometimes at a match check that normally work fine, sometimes just at the next command in a sequential chain.

Happens to me a few times a month with StormFront. It's irritating but since logging in and out fixes it I just live with it.

I know that this is a super old thread, but I wanted to resurrect it because it's the most recent I could find.
I also encounter this issue and I've found that causing roundtime through a normal command actually restarts my scripts. While this would normally lead me to believe I've got bad matches or something, I've done extensive testing to disprove that. Additionally, when my scripts hang, even cancelling them and restarting does nothing, but if I cause roundtime it will start normally.
No clue what's up, but it can be mildly frustrating!

There's a newer thread (started by me) but, given how hard the forums are to navigate, I'm not surprised you couldn't find it. I can't even find it right now, and I started it, and posted in it like yesterday.
Suffice to say that a) you are not alone, it happens to a lot of us, and b) there is apparently nothing that can be done about it.

Hmmm ... very strange. This exact same bug happens with Avalon/Yasse. Probably a coincidence.

This is exactly the behavior I see too! Curiously, its not the match for round time either, but actual round time.

Maybe we can compare notes as to what our typical scripting day looks like?
I feel like mine is on the more 'advanced' end of the spectrum as far as scripts go. I set a lot of variables, almost exclusively use MATCHRE in my matches, and my scripts call other scripts and then call back to the original to execute commands. Are you all in a similar boat, or are your scripts more straightforward?

I use many match tables, and I'd say the hangs occur most often at the match, but as you observe, can be kickstarted by adding some kind of roundtime.

I've had similar issues in DR. I notice it seems to happen after I TARGET something or CAST something. is that weird or what? And like you guys, it always gets back on track if I cause a RT to happen. One difference: I don't have any MATCHES in several scripts that experience this issue. It's purely based off of a put (action) command and a PAUSE 2 (regardless of if the action causes RT or not).
Sure wish this issue would be resolved.
