Considering there are 150 cards, I prefer numbers over asking for a particular name. Just easier when looking for a duplicate to trade.
I'm looking for Famous Faces Braushocra card.
Typical response is going to be, What number is that?
Or do you really think folks are going to want to look for the word Braushocra? Times that search by 3 to 6 different cards, with different names. These are not the friendliest words to type or remember.
If we were talking to each other in RL it would be easier for folks to remember the names of cards because there is a sound attached to it. No one in RL refers to baseball cards as Card 345 of Topps series, they say "Looking for Pete Rose Rookie card", or Magic Cards aren't referenced by their number, but with a name, Black Lotus. The sound sticks in our memory.
Some conveniences have to be taken for text that otherwise we could take for granted in RL. It would be great if we could have some form of verbal response to the game; as I say it, it prints and sends it. In most circumstances, my fingers will always take the shortest route, whether having to type it, a Macro, or script, within reason of the game; I don't use LOL, or other abbreviations.

Maybe the local nobles could get sick of hearing about cards over the gweth and place the same sort of oppressive bans on mentioning them on the 'gweth ways' that they have on selling stuff outside the bazaar in Crossings.

Just give it a month or two. Wait for the novelty aspect of the cards to wear off. Once it does and many people start having full collections, I'm sure you will see much less gweth chatter about it.

I think even the people that dislike cards the most would live with it if some people didn't scroll the cards the need over and over... and over... and over...

...Or, we could have a seperate device/channel specifically for sales, barters and auctioning. Use AUCTION instead of THINK, put it on a brooch or a pin (we've already got enough head jewelry) with similar mechanics to albredine rings. Hell, could even make it a moonmage enchantment.. <runs>

I've often wondered why we don't have this. Surely would be only a matter of swiping the code from GS3 and applying it to our gwethdesuans in place of their crystal amulets somehow?
From memory, in GS3's Elanthia, they PULL their amulets to access the shopping channel, and either pull it again, or rub it to go back to the normal thought channels.
It'd be great if we could maybe POKE our gweths to tune in to a channel reserved only for selling/buying and trading. Then rub the stones to tune back to normal thoughts.
I'm coderifically challenged, so this may not be anywhere near as simple as it sounds to actually do, but hey...it'd be nice!

Only if you paid a due to the Trader guild whose province is auctions. I could see you requesting a certain amount of time from a ranked Trader to use a separate device.
Otherwise, what is the point in Traders having an auction hall if DR just creates one that reaches everyone universally no matter their guild?
Someone has to stick up for the Merchant Guild...grr.

I totally agree with you Gidske, and that's part of the problem with announcing sales, non-trader auctioning and barters on the gweth. The 'traffic' moved from being discussed aloud outside the Crossing bank, to inside our heads. Making a seperate auction channel would nicely augment the mongers bazaar, and place a good portion of the fringe selling back into Trader Guild hands.
Would you be more willing to consider the idea if the devices were sold wholesale to traders first, with your guild brethren controlling the secondary market?

That would only work with a circle requirement, and a high one (30+), because people have enough pet Traders as is. It'd be nice if a system would be put in place that would involve 3 (or so) 20+ Traders accusing someone of selling on the gweth at the Trader guild and them being slapped with a fine of an amount relative somehow to what they were selling.

I like that squelch idea....
It would be great if ALL card collectors could agree to a standard way of showing their card lists...like...
Your mind hears Xxxx thinking, "My duplicate cards are numbered as #, #, #, and #"
[Xxxx] "My duplicate cards are numbered as #, #, #, and #"
Then we can squelch "cards are numbered as"
And Tada!! Most card number listing gone...
But...that's just wishful thinking. I know I'd forget to say that.

Greetings Pam.
>It would be great if ALL card collectors could agree to a standard way of showing their card lists...like...
Since this isn't likely to happen, I guess that squelching 'duplicate' and 'dupe' could already deal with 90% of the messages you'd like to not hear with nearly no impact on cards non related messages...
Of course, you could also squelch 'card', but you might miss some other messages in game then.

No idea what this is all about.
>l card
On this card you see the crest of the Empath's Guild, an open hand reaching out to provide comfort, a wreath of healing herbs resting in the palm.
The card is bordered with silver foil.
>turn card
You are about to activate an Empath Guild Crest card.
[Repeat the command again to confirm.]

>turn card
You turn over the Guild Crest card to admire its obsidian-black underside and the life-like rendition of two iridescent serpents twined together that seem to float on its surface.
As you watch, the serpents float free of the card, spinning around one another in a beautifully fluid dance that moves you with its grace. After a few moments the vision fades as does the power of the card.
Anyone any ideas?
