Construct between origami and gargoyles 04/25/2015 02:30 PM CDT
Does that huge gap still exist between origami/boggles and gargoyles? I wonder if a construct is in the works already.

Hey lets maybe come up with one anyway. What would it look like? Where would it go? Why would you bother?

Bonus points if it ties into empath guild lore some...how.

Can constructs be cursed?

My guess is that there is, but with the way development works it could take anywhere from 3 weeks to 6 years for a release. (Not intended to be a jab at staff, just commenting on the nature of the beast.)

Excellent idea. One thought immediately comes to mind, because it's an idea I had years ago but never got around to doing anything with it: furniliars. It's sort of a play on the Beauty and the Beast animated furniture idea, and is stolen directly and without shame from the mind of Jerry Holkins of Penny Arcade, links provided below.

If you don't want to read the source material, which why the heck wouldn't you, then I'll bottom-line it by telling you that they're effectively animated furniture items. I could easily see this going in Zoluren, where the wackiest stuff tends to occur, and being right in the sweet-spot between origami and gargs. They could occupy a creepy mansion where a deformed, mad sorcelator lives to this day, sneaking through hidden passages and lurking in unknown crawl-spaces, reupholstering and reanimating his fallen creations. The mansion could even be segmented, with two or three difficulty ranges; foyer and most of the ground floor filled with seats and small tables (lowest level), kitchen and pantry/cellar and dining room with larger tables and cabinets that throw cutlery (middle level), and bedrooms and library with beds and giant shelves and armoires and the like (hardest level).

Hrm, that's interesting. It puts me in the mind of floating weapons, too.

I'm not sure dragonrealm's combat messaging supports such a thing, though. Although, furniture could be loosely said to have chests, necks, and legs....

Don't forget that we do have creatures in the game that aren't two-armed and two-legged with heads. Lipopods, eels, vipers, and the like. I haven't hunted much other than humanoids in the DR3, so I don't know if the "this thing is not humanoid" issue has been resolved or if all creatures give the same messaging, but either way, this wouldn't be a new problem.
