What dragonrealms need are dragons, crafty, intelligent, super knowledgeable about magic, and a breath weapon that shames any war mage or moon mage spell. They should start at roughly 1200 combats at the weakest and go up to needing fully buffed PCs at 2000. Dragons Dragons Dragons.

P5 had a dragon.

It died of old age before release.

I remember hearing about dragons that where suppose to take large groups to kill, but that was years ago. So my guess is they got cut some where along the way.
would have been cool though

I believe that idea is what became the gargantuan korograths, wasn't it?

Speaking of korograths, now that there's that mechanic that caps damage so one person can't one shot something, they should come back.

Most of us hunting with capped weapons do. None of these critters have damage capped at a very low level to prevent such things.

Please? Cause these look pretty awesome in the old logs.

I completely love the idea of dragons and was heartbroken when I found out there were none after my brother dragged me into this game back on aol; however, a pure dragon isnt realistic to fight in DR lore. If dragons can earn the reverence of the gods (The Guardians) or bring them to the brink (World Dragon) then I dont want to meet one on the battlefield. However, smaller dragonkin-like versions would be awesome such as drakes, wyvern, welps, etc.

This. A Dragon would be at about 100,000 ranks of offense and defense. I don't imagine trying to fight a real one would be very fun for anyone at all.

Not even with a team of siege engines?

Fighting dragons would be a grin. But I'd want a logical backstory for it.

If Everild and Meraud don't want to fight dragons, I'm pretty sure a dragon would be quite comfortable with you manning a catapult.

Just a logical point. Just because some dragons have taken the form of Heralds (even that we don't really understand) doesn't mean all or even most have that kind of power.

Every dragon I've heard of in DR lore has immense power so my comments were just based on historical facts. Could there be a couple lazy only quasi powerful dragons hiding away in the mountains of Elanthia in seclusion? Sure, but I believe it was Armifer who has stated in a previous dragon-esque thread that if a player were to come across a dragon in a combative setting then it would be a very brief encounter....for the player.

The only other dragon is the World Dragon. Unless Leilond can power up to Super Saya-Bard Level 3 and use Kamehame-Scream Concussive to destroy a planet, no player would stand a chance.

Not exactly true. First off, there's at least two types of standard dragons, life and elemental. Plus, I suspect the World Dragon isn't a dragon so much as something huge and lizardy that people label a dragon.

Plus, there was a fragment of a message that indicated a dragon was severely injured by an arrow, indicating they're not even close to invincible.

Um, is there actually anything to suggest that the World Dragon is real? I always assumed it was just a myth.

I am partial to that it could be a myth, but don't forget this isn't exactly the real world were cosmic and powerful, and weird things are explained by other worldly events. I mean by this:

Gods and goddesses are proven to exist, they have walked amongst us. Clerics really do get their power by the Gods. More to the point Magic is real.

So is something that the gods themselves had to fight real, I'd say yes. Is it a true Dragon? What's a true Dragon. Once again I'd suggest yes.

Also - something caused Grahzir to shatter and wounded a god. The World Dragon seems a plausible enough explanation for that.

They walk among us, but they're often not the best of communicators. Just because they're real doesn't mean they'll answer all our questions. If they fought the world dragon, it was eons ago, and they would be some of the only witnesses. Have they actually come out and said, "Yep, we gave that lizard the smack down."?

> Also - something caused Grahzir to shatter and wounded a god.

I believe the MMs have plenty of evidence that Grazhir did exist as a moon* and did shatter. But do we actually know that Peri'el is/was injured?

While we're on the subject of things from pre-history: the MM party line is that Katamba used to be gold. What evidence can they have for this? Or are they just pulling it out of nowhere?

*Yes, I know that in some sense Grazhir still exists as a moon.

Once combat is fixed and scaled, boss type characters will probably be way more plausible mechanically speaking.

Actually by the myths, the gods and goddesses all fought the Great Dragon, all of them failed to win. Besides Phelim, who was able to ambush the Great Dragon, and with special Dust send the Dragon into Elanthia, where Peri'el continues to this time to keep the Dragon asleep.

What I am saying is it may still be a sore subject, since that Dragon gave even the gods and goddesses a whooping.

Dragons may or may not be the same things as the Heralds.

The Heralds could look like dragons. That's about the only connection we know.

Just a note Dragons do exist in Dragon Realms. See the new leader of the Dragon Priest and his visit to Shard.

A Dragon Priest assassin sweeps the area with its serpentine eyes and snarls, "You can not hide forever! Your fate hasss already been sssealed!"
A Dragon Priest assassin eyes narrow as it points at you and hisses, "You ssshall be retired, mark!"
