70 to 80 ranks 04/16/2016 03:00 PM CDT

Would it be possible to have one of the critters that are around the 50-70 rank adjusted up to be 65-85? Right now the 70-80 rank range has a gap that makes it difficult to traverse this range.

Having something specifically in Zoluren would be awesome.

Maybe adjust the copperhead vipers or Malodorous Bucca's? They are similar skill range and are right next to each other geographically.

Bone wolves should fit in that gap. What are you hunting now?

Bone wolves fall into the same category as the rest of the critters in this range. They stop at 73 ranks.

I'm familiar with how to get through this as I've taken multiple characters through it recently. It's just a pain to do. I usually end up going and locking my defenses and then getting healed and waiting for my defenses to drain down. Rinse and repeat till 80 ranks so I can hunt Silverbacks and Snowbeasts.

70 to 80 ranks is the most painful range of ranks for any character limited to Zoluren. I won't go into detail here, since all of the suggestions I have are already in multiple other threads but they include adding a new creature to zoluren, adjusting the teaching range of an existing one, or sectioning off the rocky outcrop area better. Any or all of those would go a long way to making those 10 ranks less painful of an experience.

If you are playing on a subbed account then blood wolves north of Lang are actually perfect for this range, but if you are limited to Zoluren then this range is horrible.

If you are limited to Zoluren, you might want to look at rock trolls. At least, that's what I used the last time I had a character in that range. You might look at the bone wolves in Leth too. Good luck!

Bone wolves stop teaching at 73 ranks. Rock trolls even earlier.

I've never found a great answer to this gap. It's rough. I end up buying pass because to do it without is just soul sucking.

I seem to remember that bobcats teach surprisingly high, although that could have changed.

Outside of Zoluren, I'd recommend silver leucros above Ratha. I'm backtraining weapons ~80 ranks right now and they teach very well.

I'm hunting bobcats with a f2p barbarian right now and they're definitely slowing at 60. You 'might' be able to milk them to 70 but it would be painful if it's even possible. They are pretty great for the 50 to 60 range though.

All of the creatures being repeatedly suggested used to teach at this range because 2.0 combat had larger teaching ranges. Since 3.0 went live and all of the creature teaching caps dropped, this new gap in the teaching range for Zoluren creatures appeared. It was fine until f2p became a thing because you could just move to theren blood wolves and have a perfect hunting area, but f2p do not have that option unless they pay for it.

In TF, I left a toon in bobcats by accident and they actually took me up close to 80 - I have ~77 in my notes.

I should also note that this was within the last 12 months, so definitely DR3 teaching ranges.

I just got through this gap and in Zoluren its not a fun gap.

I can also attest to the fact that this gap is not fun. The new vipers should have been a 70-85 critter, we definitely need a critter before snowbeasts that teaches into the low 80s.

The endrus serpents seem to fill this gap nicely.

The problem with rock trolls that I had recently on my empath is that like most weapon-using creatures they don't teach defense so great, made much worse by the fact that they spend the majority of their time trying to knock you down with that spell that never actually works. For weapons I'm sure they are much better, but you'd need a lot of patience to lock defenses in there if they are in the 70s.

Look for the serpentine path on the south trade road in the Endrus forest.

Before you get to the Blood Forest(Nyads and Dryads). If you get there you have gone too far.

holy heck thank goodness I found this thread.

I couldn't find anything where I didn't need healed every 5 minutes or less.

Serpents work great.
