In terms of ranks, fledgeling gryphons in Ilithi are basically equal to adan'f. However, adan'f mages can parry and adan'f warriors can parry and shield block. So I believe they'll cap weapons higher. They're definitely more difficult from a practical standpoint.
Giant blade spiders are basically on par with young gryphons, which are significantly more difficult than fledgeling gryphons. But if even the young gryphons have slowed down on experience, the next step up would be the various dragon priests. I'd recommend starting with Dragon Priests/Priestesses in with baby peccaries by horse clan.
Of course, if you leave the Shard area you've got tons more options.
