They can be parried.
* A giant wasp stabs its sharp stinger at you. You fend off the body with a scimitar.
Parry just does not work very well at low levels at all (not that it ever keeps up with shield/evasion). Working on it.

Alright. Just confused because they killed me while I only made one Parry attempt. Just a bunch of failed dodges.

Yeah, that's not at all surprising. If you were failing to dodge consistently, you are almost guaranteed to fail to parry, even if your parry skill is a bit better. Your success (or lack thereof) at dodging directly impacts your success at parry and shield block currently. This will be changing...soon.
