I've been backtraining weapons for some time, and I've noticed that HT takes far and away the longest to train. I can get 8-10/34 in crossbow killing one mob, similar xp rates for LT, and maybe, MAYBE 4/34 using a spear and lobbing. Keep in mind I'm lobbing my seax too, and my crossbow is being fully aimed. I mean, most of my melee weapons I just feint spam and get 8-10 before the mob dies. When I'm down to only HT I'm always sitting around waiting for more mobs so I can kill like 8 in a row to get the mindstates moving.

Just seems like the experience per hit is low. and I'm hitting super hard even though I'm lobbing so shouldn't experience be better?
