Has anyone run into this before? When my throwing axe is on the ground, stow does not recognize it and I need to pick it up first. I never had issues just using "stow" before. This is with a bonded throwing axe that I recently registered. The issue with stow started happening after I registered it.

I checked that - everything is fine there.

It seems that registering it somehow broke it for stow?

Probably something like this. STOW seems to have a different priority list than GET sometimes.

Just to rule out the obvious, try tapping the axe?

You put your axe in your leather baldric.

That is too heavy for you to pick up.
