Styles Explained 01/20/2013 02:10 PM CST
Hello everyone. Some of this was posted in the past, but I wanted to remind everyone of it.

Block - new defensive action that bonuses shield skill. This previously didn't work, leaving Paladins and shield users in the dust. Parry and Dodge still work as well.

Most combat maneuvers have an expanded help function as follow:

Common Combat Verbs:

>>jab help full

* Detailed Information *
Jab is a damage dealing maneuver.
Jab tends to be a moderately fatiguing maneuver. Attacking again too soon can make this worse.
Jab tends to be very balance building.
Jab is a very quick maneuver, but heavy or unbalanced weapons can slow the attack further.
Jab is less accurate than most maneuvers, and is best suited to puncture weapons and least suited to both slice and impact weapons.
Jab temporarily penalizes all defenses, but is best suited to parry defenses and least suited to both evasion and shield defenses.

So jab is a quick, inaccurate move that builds balance and uses little fatigue

>>slice help full

* Detailed Information *
Slice is a damage dealing maneuver.
Slice tends to be a somewhat fatiguing maneuver. Attacking again too soon can make this worse.
Slice tends to be balance building.
Slice is a reasonably paced maneuver, but heavy or unbalanced weapons can slow the attack further.
Slice is as accurate as most maneuvers, and is best suited for slice weapons and least suited for puncture weapons.
Slice temporarily penalizes all defenses, but is best suited to parry defenses and least suited to both evasion and shield defenses.

Generally the important parts here are how much fatige it uses, how accurate it is, what damage types it provides bonuses for and how it affects defenses. In comparison to CHOP

>>chop help full

* Detailed Information *
Chop is a damage dealing maneuver.
Chop tends to be a extremely fatiguing maneuver. Attacking again too soon can make this worse.
Chop tends to be unbalancing.
Chop is a slow maneuver, but heavy or unbalanced weapons can slow the attack further.
Chop is more accurate than most maneuvers, and is best suited for slice weapons and least suited for puncture weapons.
Chop temporarily penalizes all defenses, but is equally suited to evasion, parry, and shield defenses.

You can see chop uses more fatigue than slice, and is more unbalancing. However, chop is more accurate which will allow you to land harder blows.

Jab, Thrust, Lunge
Feint, Slice, Chop
Jab/Feint, Swing, Slam, Bash
Gouge, Punch, Kick, Butt

Those are the core abilities for each type in ascending order of balance/fatigue/accuracy

Weave - Lots of fatigue/balance used, gives a large defensive penalty to the target if successful
Circle - Some fatigue, builds balance, unbalances enemy (penalizes their attack/defense)
Bob - Builds a lot of fatigue/balance

Hope this helps. Should allow you to come up with some fun combinations!
