Chainmail Armguards switched armor type? 06/04/2012 03:23 PM CDT

I've got a pair of Chainmail Armguards which I purchased from Dirge. They were appraising as Light Chain until this morning when I noticed I wasn't learning any Light Chain anymore. I appraised them and they're appraising as Heavy Chain.

I have 111 skill in Light Chain and 112 in Heavy Chain.

Any ideas?

Yes, I think that piece of armor you have is considered "Neutral Chain" so it will train whichever skill you have more ranks in. So if your Light Chain is higher it will teach Light Chain, and visa versa if Heavy Chain is higher.

At least, I think that's how it works.

That makes sense, thanks for the prompt reply. Is there a way to tell if a piece of armor is Neutral or not? Elanthipedia didn't mention it and doing a careful appraise with 240~ didn't show anything.

I guess I can pick up Supple Ring Mail Greaves from Haven instead.

You just need to find the value for X.

Armor Weight > X = HP/HC
Armor Weight < X = LP/LC
Armor Weight = X = Neutral Armor
