Blunt Weapon Damage Question 11/05/2018 04:10 PM CST
I have weapon damage question, it isn't explicitly exclusive to blunt weapons, however the comparison I'm making is between two blunt weapons so this seemed like the correct channel to use.

Speaking in very rudimentary terms, without going too deep into weapon damage minutiae, is it better to have a weapon with a higher rating in one category of damage type or a weapon where the total sum of all the categories is greater? For example:

A)
You are certain that it could do:
no puncture damage
somewhat fair slice damage
mighty impact damage

excellently designed for improving the force of your attacks.

inadequately balanced and is very well suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength

B)
You are certain that it could do:
moderate puncture damage
no slice damage
very extreme impact damage

excellently designed for improving the force of your attacks.

inadequately balanced and is very well suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength

I'm curious if there a clear front runner between these two weapons. Namely which, if either of them, you would generally expect to see more damage output from using a simple attack rotation consisting of Feint/Swing/Bash. Thanks!

My understanding:

- Feint benefits more or less equally from slice/impact.

- Swing heavily favors impact (some % from slice, least from puncture).

- Bash heavily favors from impact (some % from slice, least from puncture).

- Numerically (abstracting as it's a range), no = 0, somewhat fair = 4, mighty = 17, moderate = 7, very extreme = 16.

So with your combat, Weapon A's 4 points of slice and 17 points of impact would be worth more than Weapon B's 16 points of impact and 0 points of slice. It may be marginal or it may be significant. We'd need to see behind the curtains (or do a lot of testing) to know.

Again, this is napkin math, so I'd read more info here:

This is correct. Weapon B will perform better over time since it has a higher total number. Total up the values of the weapon and use the highest combined total if the force is the same. I always go for higher force if you are a strength based character though (if the numbers are close in comparison).
