Targetted Attacks 10/01/2001 05:25 PM CDT
... are now live.

You may now attempt to hit specific body parts on your opponent. The available target areas are limited to humanoids for now. "Third left leg" isn't valid. <grin>

Syntax is exactly as currently used, just type in the area at the end. For instance, "slice goblin" becomes "slice goblin left arm." Or if you want to use the default creature, "jab" becomes "jab right arm." Note that you must spell out the full word(s), no abbreviations. The area you are targetting MUST be the last part of what you type.

While 'aim' will not do anything different whether you add an area or not, the key aspect is that you must type the area you intend to hit in the FIRE/SHOOT verb. So SHOOT WARRIOR RIGHT EYE. "AIM WARRIOR RIGHT EYE" will not complain, but it does not mean you are actually aiming at the right eye, nor does it mean you have to "SHOOT WARRIOR RIGHT EYE."

If you do not specify an area, combat will proceed as it always has. Some parts are more difficult to hit than others. We will not be awarding any additional skill based on targetting specific areas.

As with all new systems, we will be monitoring this closely.
