Coming Multi Opponent Changes 03/22/2001 11:10 AM CST
The coming changes to the multiple opponent skill are getting close enough that I have gotten permission to share the direction of those changes.

The are two primary changes which are occurring with multi opponent:

1) The penalty caused by a given creature will be dependent upon both its position and its level (or threat). Currently that penalty is based solely on position.

Example: Having enough multiple opponent skill to fight two goblins without penalty will not mean that you can fight two crocodiles without penalty.

2) The calculated multiple opponent penalty will be rank based rather than percent based.

Impact: The multiple opponent skill will become much more interactive with the other three active defenses. Having outstanding defenses will be able to help cover for poor multi skill. Outstanding multi skill can help cover poor defenses (in a multi situation).

Learning: The two changes above allow the multiple opponent skill to grow much more naturally with the game. Therefore, the reins which have been firmly in place on the skill over the past 2-1/2 years are able to be relaxed. Learning the skill will be much more natural.

I know this will prompt many questions. So ask away.
