how do you attune a bloodlock to you?

I tried focusing on it, all it said is its yet not attuned.

First, 'put bloodlock on my spellbook'. It will tell you to attune it first. Then put the spellbook in your case and 'rub my bloodlock'. A key will pop out of it into your empty hand. Put the key away. Get the spellbook out. "put bloodlock on my spellbook". And then you're set.

Rub it. But if you didn't buy the spellbook it won't work on the spellbook.
