Nuggets from boxes shatter if left alone 07/22/2014 09:45 AM CDT
Metal nuggets created by boxes behave like nuggets created by mining; they shatter, if they are not picked up in a timely manner.

The decay starts as soon as the nugget is instantiated regardless of the triggering event.

Opening a box obviously causes loot to be instantiated, but setting off a curse trap also seems to, which can result in nuggets shattering inside a still locked box.

I find it hard to believe, that this is the intended behaviour.

I would suggest, restricting nugget decay to those on the ground only.

Sorry if this post takes things a little slow. I'm confused a little by what you're describing, so I go step by step.

I think the first part of what you're describing is a result of the switch that made nuggets, regardless of found via mining, boxes, or critters, to be usable in crafting systems. Since all crafting materials decay if left alone, https://elanthipedia.play.net/mediawiki/index.php/Post:Crumbling_Carved_Objects_-_06/11/2011_-_21:56, nuggets despawning sounds intentional.

What does seem weird is that they despawn while inside the box, after blowing the box's trap. Then again, can't you just unluck the box and grab the nugget? Shouldn't it become protected once you interact with it?

That's the issue I think. It disintegrates before he can get the box open. Same thing happens if you cast PG at the box, since that also spawns the contents.
