Mage Titles 05/19/2012 10:31 PM CDT
I was looking over the various guild's titles and I noticed the neat titles of Holy Mage, Life Mage, and Lunar Mage. They were in the Cleric, Empath, and Moon Mage title lists respectively. But when I was thinking about it, a Paladin who works very hard should be able to become a Holy Mage as a Ranger could be a Life Mage. (And when Traders get magic one might work hard enough to be considered a Lunar Mage). So my suggestion was that these titles get moved out of the guild lists and moved over to the Primary Magic list. Say 100 or 200 ranks in (type) Magic would give you that mana type's title. Or what ever amount is good. This would also open up an Elemental Mage title as I couldn't find that one. And I assume move Arcane Mage from Warrior Mages to allow any Necromancer silly enough to use it. Any thoughts?

For what it's worth, I've tried to consistently use the term "magician" to describe people who can use magic, and save "mage" for the people who make a career out of it.

Oh, that's fine by me. I would just like to see a way for the off-mages to be able to have more magic looking titles. A Bard with Elemental Magician would be great in my book!

I like Arcane Researcher and Arcane Warrior where they currently reside, in the primary magic category of titles. So any WM or any other magician... can use them. As well as any Necromancer that doesn't want to use a title that gives Social Outrage... <hums innocently>....
