The IC explanation is that the dyes have some toxicity and too much of it would make us ill if not kill us. The OOC explanation has to do with the way descriptions are coded.

Only full body tattoos i've seen is on tattoo artists themselves.

You can get a tattoo alteration without currently having a tattoo. That's how I got mine long time ago with Ivinn... I got picked(I was lucky, he has a thing about choosing mainly. Bah!)
, and he planted mine right onto my arm after a little while. Good luck in getting yours.
