My sympathies.

I know there's been a lot of activity here lately by people fairly new to horses, and it actually makes me feel sad to see people learning the hard lessons other have learned over the years. So, until things change for the better for horses, I recommend the following:

Learn bareback as quick as you can.

Carry a couple of spare CHEAP bridles on you or have them nearby in the vault.

NEVER use full tack or barding on your horse. Even for special occasions.

Using old cheap bridles and riding bareback will allow you to use your horse and in case of game crashes, buggy rooms, or just general bad luck, you'll only be out around 1.5 gold or so if something happens.

Horses can still be lots of fun. Just lower your expectations and limit your losses.

As for your specific problem, I'd BUG the room. Never hurts.
